We were already two weeks late!!
I and my pals very less often miss the first week shows of any amir movies!
This time it was just me and one of my pals’ rash who were quite eager and excited to watch the most popular movie of the season “Tare Zameen Par!” And we were already 2 weeks late.
It was a weekend and we both had planned it well in advance.
I wheeled out my car and off we went to catch the best productions amongst the film industry!
As expected we came out smiling from the theaters and discussing the overall movie.
I was driving back home and we hadn’t really got over with all the best songs and the script and of course our only favorite actor!
I stopped near a signal at the bottom of a bridge. I checked my rear mirror to notice a BEST bus so close that it almost touched my cars butt. “These bus drivers I tell you…never keep distance”… I muttered to rash who wasn’t really keen to know what I was talking about.
And suddenly we heard this loudest bang ever!!!
Me n rash exchanged glances and before we could gather our senses to realize what that was, we felt the biggest jerk and almost hit the dash board of my car!!...thanks to our seat belts we weren’t pushed off so far!
My anger knew no bounds... I was exasperated!!
I drove my car a bit ahead and almost flew out of my car…with fiery eyes ready to kill anyone that came across me!
I asked rash to stay in the car and call home to prepare my parents and narrate a soft incident of what just happened.
I went out to check the damage and saw a huge dent and a huge hole on the bumper of my car!
The bus driver came out with equally fiery eyes!
Now y in the world is this guy mad!! I thought to myself…He should be feeling guilty for what he did!!
He looked at me, turned around and started firing a skinny guy who was in a torn ganji and just came from nowhere!
The guy looked like he was in his early twenties and was chewing on some pan.
I was completely lost by now cuz I was clueless of what happened.
“OK! Who is responsible for this??”…I gathered all my wits to ask this question quite loudly.
Cuz I definitely wanted to catch hold of the person who had ruined the beauty of my very own car!!
“His truck bumped into my bus and we in turn rammed into your car!!”
Ok I had pictured it!. It was a chain sequence here.3 vehicles bumped one after the other.
By now we had managed to gather almost 50 people around us…with not a single police man in sight
Rash was in the car just to make sure no1 steals our purses or mobiles in the whole chaos taking advantage of it.
So it was like a one girl against 20 odd men surrounding me.
I dint show a slightest freckle of fear on my face and fought like a warrior.
I went up to the kid. He was actually a kid allowed to drive a truck. I was cursing and swearing at the RTO for giving license to such immature kids!!
I asked him to show his liscence. He groped his torn pockets and got out a very weird looking scrap of paper. It dint have his pic on it or for that matter it dint even look like a Mumbai license!
My voice almost trembled when I asked him what and why this whole thing happened. But I carried it off pretty well!
He had this stern look on his face, with black kajal covering his eyes and the red color of the pan smeared over his mouth! It was quite gross. But I couldn’t have let him off so easily.
And he told me “my brakes didn’t work at the last minute”
My jaw dropped…”And you were driving on the roads of Mumbai with a vehicle which had its most important part not working??...Who in the world let u do something like this???...tell me your owner’s name!!”…What a freak!!
“I don’t remember” was his answer…
I had totally lost temper by now… yet again there was no sign of a police man!
I asked a by passer to hand me a pen and a paper and noted down the numbers of both the bus and the truck.
I went back to the guy, virtually dragged him near my car and showed him the damage.
His looks were quite reluctant.
I knew I wouldn’t be getting too much from him but I asked him to pay for it!
His deceptive looks could’ve scared me but I dint move an inch.
He was equally scared since he thought his job would be in danger!
I had realized that I had to run to my insurance company after this.
But I still demanded money from him.
Eventually he went up to his truck and handed a 500 rupee note to me.
I felt terrible snatching away his hard earned money but the dent on my car kept me weeping inside.
I was shit scared for I had not seen my dad around, since I had asked rash to call him over to the scene (since it was close to my house)
Aaah….then came in the police and started questioning the bus driver and conductor who were busy enjoying the fight as they normally stay out of quarrels. They let the BEST organization do the rest.
I took the money and without looking around sat in my car and drove off!
I reached home to find my dad waiting for me in my building.
He didn’t really show any ex-pressions on his face…so I wasn’t too sure if he was angry about it or chose to ignore it!
Nonetheless this posed as my very first accident encounter and I faced it all by my self!
Thanks to god we were safe…but for my poor car who suffered a hole it it’s butt…!!
And to the truck driver who paid for our movie tickets and snacks!
Everything else apart.........TZP was indeed an amazing movie!! J
